HOMEMADE MEXICAN CHURROS



Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 6-8 tsp butter (prefer unsalted sugar)

  • 1 tsp powdered sugar

  • 1/4 tsp sugar

  • 1 cup all purpose flour

  • 2-3 large eggs

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar/ castor sugar

  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder

  • oil to fry



Instructions:

  1. In a pan, combine water, milk, butter a tsp of sugar and salt. Bring it to boil over medium heat, stir continuously.

  2. Remove from heat and immediately add flour all at once and stir it with spatula. Once its get incorporated, put back on the heat and stir constantly for 2 mins to release extra moisture and the flour gets partially cooked. The dough should come together in a smooth ball.

  3. Transfer this mixture in another bowl and use a whisker to beat the mixture to cool the mixture slightly.

  4. Add beaten eggs into it and mix it till dough is smooth and forms a thick ribbon when pulled.

  5. Heat oil in a frying pan.

  6. Transfer the dough to a pastry bag or piping bag with a large star tip nozzle.

  7. Squeeze the cone to get the dough in nice shape and cut it with scissors.

  8. Fry till all the sides are golden in colour. Fry in batches. Transfer it to an absorbent paper and then roll in cinnamon sugar powder.
